I'm trying to understand what actually happens when you get your book published, because the advice seems all over the place. How do writers judge whether an agent is genuinely interested or simply sending a standard response? What should authors watch for in contracts, rights, and royalties? Has anyone discovered too late that they agreed to terms they didn't fully understand?
